Leadership guru John Maxwell once said, “A leader who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” The gospel has transformed our teachers’ lives. They know the way, and now they are showing it.

Over the past several weeks, Orphan Helpers teacher Francisco and others have been teaching the boys in Sendero de Libertad — a detention center in El Salvador — about the gospel and leadership through John Maxwell’s book “Developing the Leader Within You.”

“The purpose of teaching this series to our young men in Sendero de Libertad Juvenile Detention Center is to help them better understand the Lord’s sovereignty over their lives amidst the chaos that surrounds them,” Orphan Helpers’ El Salvador Director Soledad Orellana said.

More than 20 incarcerated boys have attended this leadership training. The group gathers every Saturday for four-hour sessions. Orphan Helpers staff members Francisco, Soledad, David, Roberto, Edelmira and Jaime take turns teaching the lessons.

“This training will equip them to be more faithful in the stewardship of their time and talents,” Soledad said. “It also will prepare them to better serve their family, church, and community.”

Because of your support, our teachers are able to share their faith inside the centers and empower today’s orphans to become tomorrow’s helpers… and leaders!

Donate today so our teachers can continue to show the way!
