Scott

Scott, a junior at Arizona State University, served for five weeks in El Salvador in the summer of 2007. He worked in CISNA, an orphanage for young boys in Soypango, and Sendero de Libertad, a juvenile detention center in Ilobasco. Scott also served with Orphan Helpers during the summer of 2006, working in the same centers.

Scott had a particular heart for the girls at Sendero de Libertad. Orphan Helpers does not currently have female staff who work with these teenage girls—so Scott’s example and expression of God’s unconditional love was desperately needed. Scott taught English and computer classes, as well as led Bible Study and discipleship classes at the two centers and the Faith House. He also helped with the YPO Orphan Olympics week.

“When David (the Orphan Helpers coordinator at Sendero de Libertad) and I first went there a couple weeks ago, we met only 2 Christian girls out of the 30 that were there. After 3 weeks and much prayer, we now have at least 15 Christ-followers among the girls in that center. A few of them accepted Christ in their hearts while we were with them. Others gave their lives to Him on their own, and later confessed to the group their decision. No matter how it happened, we give thanks and glory to the only One to whom it is due: our great and awesome God in heaven.”  --Scott
